It was the last great science hero fight, but the energy blast ripped a hole in reality, and birthed the Empire State – a young, twisted parallel prohibition-era New York.
When the rift starts to close, both worlds are threatened, and both must fight for the right to exist.
“Empire State” is a novel by Adam Christopher set both in New York and in an alternate reality version of that same, great city. It’s a story of private detectives, superheroics, fringe science, prohibition, and two worlds’ fight for survival.
The novel was published by Angry Robot books, and it’s the first property to come out of the publisher’s Worldbuilder platform, a framework for creating shared story worlds where fans collaborate with authors.
Worldbuilder invites fans to create their own works, and mediums and creatives of all kinds are welcome: writers, artists, musicians, sculptors, puppeteers, interpretive dancers, poets, etc.
Stories and an RPG based on “Empire State” are already available for free at the official Empire State website.
